Cherry Eye Baby

I have been wanting to add another "baby" aka "dog" to my life for some time now... I was so close a few months ago but then changed my mind last second. Frappy is a huge part of my life and I love that guy so much but he is a lot of work. He has seizures from having a bad liver so he always has something going on. Good days and bad days but I am obsessed with him. He loves to be at my dads house so I take him back and forth. I feel like I am missing out when he's not with me so I make a huge effort to pick him up at night or at least go visit him and then drop him back off in the morning before work. Well the lady I almost bought from last time has another little guy that has "cherry eye" and my heart hurts for him. He originally was $500-600 but now is down to $300 because he will need a minor surgery to fix it. The surgery though is about $500... So I don't know what to do. She is taking them to the vet on Tuesday for shots and will let me know what the vet thinks is the best route for him. She said something about an ointment but I don't know how well that would work... Always a chance he would still need surgery. So I guess I will wait til Tuesday and see what she says... here is a picture of the cutie pie :)

What's a cherry eye? He's super cute. but there is no guarantee that your second dog won't have a perfect bill of health either and just think how much your first baby has costed you...:) sometimes ONE is really enough! :)

here's what I copied from the internet...
Unlike people, dogs have a 'third eyelid' that contains a tear gland and is located in the corner of each eye. Under normal circumstances, this gland is not visible and aids in the production of tears. For some reason, which is not completely understood, the gland of the third eyelid prolapses or comes out of its normal position and swells creating the condition known as cherry eye.

I guess I just feel bad for the little ones that arent being bought like the rest of his sisters/brothers. I would fix him and love him and be a good mom to him :)

He's super cute but honestly I don't know if I would pay $300 for him...

We got a puppy whose sister than liver problems. The breeder found this out about a week after we paid for our puppy and called us right away. He paid for all the testings (over $300) and gave us a full refund (more than the original price for cherry eye). Now our puppy is just about 2 years old and hasn't had any issues yet, but I feel like a respectable breeder would give a imperfect puppy to a kind person who would take care of it. I guess it's it really minor, then that's fine but still, but you'll end up paying more with the surgery and the breeder has to understand that.

Let me know what you decide.
